How an Engagement Works

A high-level view of an engagement from first call to testimony.

Engagement steps.

  1. 01

    Initial inquiry

Counsel or a claims professional describes the matter, the parties and the timeline.

  2. 02

    Conflict and scope review

A conflict check, then a frank discussion of whether the issues fit Ted's experience.

  3. 03

    Case-material review

Review of the records produced or available, and identification of what is missing.

  4. 04

    Consultation and analysis

Independent analysis and consultation with counsel on findings as they develop.

  5. 05

    Report

A written expert report where the engagement calls for one.

  6. 06

    Rebuttal

Review of and response to opposing expert opinions where applicable.

  7. 07

    Deposition

    Deposition testimony where applicable.

  8. 08

    Trial testimony

Clear, measured testimony at trial or hearing where applicable.

Steps marked "where applicable" depend on the engagement. Work product and methodology specific to a matter remain confidential.
